"You should pray 5 times a day if you want to go heaven!".
"If you don't fast, God will throw you in hell and punish you there!".
"If you don't wear decent clothes, you will be punished when you die!".
Threats, threats, and threats! We hear those everyday! If you don't do this, you are a bad Christian, an unfaithful Muslim! Is't me, or does religion sound like a bunch of duties towards God!? Does God really demands those stuff? Does He, the almighty, really needs our prayers? Are their for his benefit or our benefit? Tons of questions are asked regarding those matters, and the sarcasm lies when the person who asks those questions gets punished, as if its wrong to question stuff and understand them... Ignorance!
Lets begin with Fasting! Fasting is one of the most recommended religious acts in Islam, and it is mentioned in almost every religion. But sadly, the philosophy of fasting can't be understood by the human's limited science! Physically, it is a cleansing operation in which the body slowly get rids of toxins and wastes in the liver, stomach, intestines, and blood!
Spiritually, fasting re-births and regenerates our spiritual willpower by filling our inner knowing with the direct experience of new physical, emotional and spiritual strength. It also cleans the body-mind and feeds the spirit, allowing our physical bodies to better extract the Divine cosmic energy from our normal biochemical energy sources.
It can be experienced as a mystical death and at the same time it has many benefits for our bodies. In this process, the blockages are removed, we are naturally able to make a stronger connection with our light body, which is a powerful doorway to our cosmic body. In this way, it is not a denial of the body, but a special doorway to enhance our experience of our own divinity.
So.... when we fast, its for our own benefit! God is joyful and happy when we fast and care about our bodies! After all, each soul chose its own body to live in! Its our physical home for our ethereal spirit! Lets make this home a comfortable one, and not a sick tired one!
Praying, on the other hand, is truly a pure spiritual experience! First, those praying techniques and fake prayer methods in which you bow and memorize stuff and act in a certain way are just nonsense! When you do that, your souls wouldn't be praying, only the body-mind! Your bodies do robotic movements, and your head is thinking about what should you wear and what should you eat, and your soul is in a totally different place! Is this the prayer required? After all, isn't a prayer a connection with The Almighty?
Each one of us has his own prayer and his own way of connecting with the creator! A prayer can't be defined with one word, i tried my best to make up a total to explain it but i couldn't, but what I know is that its a link with God! Don't let anyone tell you that your prayer is wrong and you should do this in order to connect with Him. A prayer is from the soul, from the heart, its one of the most pure instinctive Human acts! I have my own prayer, and you have yours!
At last, God is not some dark entity calculating our mistakes so He can punish us in eternity! God is way beyond that! If you want to understand God, know yourselves first! Be aware, "Know yourself then God is known to you!"
